Atelier Workshops by Julia Woning
Welcome to my creative workshops in Bergschenhoek, just north of Rotterdam.
During my workshops, you will discover the world of drawing, painting, and mixed media. You will receive practical tips, learn new techniques, and get personal guidance, allowing you to work at your own level and—above all—enjoy the creative process.
My passion is inspiring people and helping them grow in their own creativity. I love sharing my knowledge and experience and guiding you as you discover new possibilities, materials, and techniques.
Whether you are a beginner or already have experience, everyone is welcome. The most important thing is that you go home inspired, with new ideas, greater confidence in your own abilities, and a creative piece of work you are proud of.

Open Studio – Realistic Drawing or Watercolor Painting
Would you like to learn how to draw or paint realistically? Or do you already have a project you want to continue working on? During the Realistic Drawing Open Studio, you work on a project of your choice at your own level and using your own materials.
You will learn to observe shapes, light, shadow, and textures more closely, while receiving personal guidance and tips to further develop your work. You can work with materials such as graphite pencils, colored pencils, PanPastel, and pastel pencils. If you already work with watercolors, you can also continue working on your own watercolor project during the Open Studio session—provided you have prior experience; otherwise, I recommend taking a one-day watercolor workshop first.
You are welcome to bring your own photo, an existing work, or a new project. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, your skill level and creative ideas take center stage.

Open Studio Tuesday Afternoon
Then come along to the open studio afternoons guided by Julia Woning! These sessions are suitable for beginners and experienced colorists, illustrators, watercolorists, and acrylic painters alike. Work on your own project—starting it under Julia’s guidance and perfecting it at home—and pick up where you left off whenever it suits you. You can also bring along work you’ve already created to discuss it and get tips. In short: a fun and creative afternoon!
Do you want to work with acrylic paint?
That’s certainly possible! Please note, however, that the paint and canvas (or other painting surface) are not included in the materials. Feel free to bring your own supplies so you can continue working on your project at home. Running low on inspiration? Don’t worry—I have plenty of examples you can choose from!
The open studio afternoon includes materials and coffee/tea, and takes place with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 participants.

Color Theory & Pencil Mixing
In this workshop, you will discover how colors work together and how to create beautiful color blends.
We will explore topics such as color harmony, warm and cool colors, layering, light, dark, and contrast. You will gain a better understanding of why certain colors work well together and how to apply this in your own work.
The workshop is inspired by my latest Basisboek over kleurenleer & mengen kleurpotlood.. You will spend a lot of time practicing hands-on, so you can learn to apply the techniques immediately.

For both beginners and advanced learners who want to gain a better grasp of color usage and color combinations.

Monoprinting with the Gel Plate
Ontdek de verrassende wereld van Gel Printing! Met een gelplate, acrylverf en verschillende materialen maak je unieke monoprints. Geen twee prints worden precies hetzelfde – juist het experimenteren maakt deze techniek zo leuk.
During the workshop, you will learn to work with multiple layers, structures, and textures, as well as transfer techniques. You will discover how to combine colors and materials and how to build upon a simple print.
This workshop is all about experimenting, playing, and discovering. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to create beforehand: often, the most beautiful results emerge along the way.
For whom?
For both beginners and participants with prior experience in gel printing. A workshop full of experimentation, inspiration, and fun.

Watercolor painting
Discover the versatility of watercolor and learn how to create an atmospheric and personal painting using water, pigment, and various techniques.
During the workshops, we practice techniques such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, transparency, color layering, and brushwork. You will learn to observe shapes, colors, and textures more closely and discover how to build up an image step by step.
Each watercolor workshop has its own theme. However, you are also welcome to work on a subject of your own choosing. For instance, bring along a photo or select a subject from my extensive collection of inspirational images—think animals, people, landscapes, flowers, or anything else that appeals to you.
Whether you love loose, atmospheric watercolors or prefer working in detail, you will receive personal guidance and work at your own level.
