I love sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for drawing and painting. I do this through my books, demonstrations, and workshops. But how did it all begin?

My creative journey received a major boost thanks to my ‘Dikke Dames’ (Lovely Ladies) paintings, which enjoyed great success from 2008 onwards. When adult coloring books became popular around 2015, the idea arose to create my own ‘Dikke Dames’ coloring book. I approached BBNC Publishers, and shortly thereafter, Het enige echte Dikke Dames Kleurboek voor Volwassenen (The One and Only ‘Dikke Dames’ Coloring Book for Adults) was released. Featuring 140 illustrations, it became a huge success.

During the demonstrations I subsequently gave using coloring materials from brands such as Stabilo and Caran d’Ache, I noticed how many questions people had about materials and techniques. That inspired me to write my first book on techniques: Kleurtechnieken Workshop by Julia Woning (2016).

Since then, I have written several books and conduct demonstrations and in-store workshops in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany for brands such as Derwent, PanPastel, Gelli Arts, and Daniel Smith.

Creative Drawing Techniques, the Art Journal Workshop, and the PanPastel Workshop Book soon followed. The PanPastel book was published not only in Dutch but also released worldwide in English.

Following the books on techniques, the Basisboeken (Basic Books) series was launched. Basisboek Tekenen (Basic Book: Drawing) – now in its third printing – was followed by Basisboek Portret Tekenen & Schilderen (Basic Book: Portrait Drawing & Painting), Basisboek Dieren Tekenen & Schilderen (Basic Book: Animal Drawing & Painting), and Basisboek Kleurenleer & Mengen – Kleurpotlood (Basic Book: Color Theory & Mixing – Colored Pencils). Basisboek Aquarel (Basic Book: Watercolor) is scheduled for release in October 2026.

My books are available in bookstores, art supply stores, and hobby shops in the Netherlands and Belgium, and – of course – through my webshop. You can order a signed copy there.
